Suggest a Secure Bike Parking Location
This feedback map is for Secure Bike Parking, a new citywide program. NYC DOT would like to know how this program can best serve your bike parking needs. Please tell us what type of bicycle you would like to store (standard, e-bike, cargo, adaptive, etc.) and the length of time (long-term, short-term, overnight, weekends, etc.) at each suggested location. You may also indicate preferred amenities such as e-bike battery charging, tire pumps, and bike repair stations.

This intersection is one of the busiest commercial and transit hubs in Upper Manhattan. Thousands of residents, commuters, shoppers, and visitors pass through the area every day, making it a vital connection between multiple subway lines, bus routes, local businesses, and cultural institutions.
Residential bike parking
This would allow for waterfront park access for riders coming down Castle Hill Avenue, from points like the Castle Hill Avenue (6) train and the many schools towards the other end of Castle Hill Avenue. There is a YMCA located right near here. It is also the terminus of the Bx22 bus.
The Soundview Ferry Terminal is VERY difficult to access via public transportation. It is bikeable from the more dense areas closer to the 6 subway train line, however. While NYC Ferry does allow bikes, it does so for a high cost and those bikes are largely not necessary at the ultimate destination, like points in Manhattan.
This area is a major hub of schools for every age: Linden Tree Elementary, PS 106, MS 127, and the Saint Raymond's High School for Boys. Some students come from longer distances that are better biked than walked, and those students deserve safe routes to school.
The Parkchester subway station is a hugely important hub for express subway service, Q44 Select Bus Service, express buses, and local buses. This should be prioritized for a large secure biking intervention especially as it is the closest subway station for many points north and east.
The Prospect Park (B)(Q)(S) subway station is a very important multi-modal transportation hub with immediate access to Prospect Park. From points east, this is the closest access to these lines and the fastest route to Manhattan.
