We need lots of secure bike parking in the East Village. Most of the apartment buildings in this neighborhood are tenement buildings and smaller, making it difficult to store a bike indoors, and bikes locked outside are almost always stolen. There are lots of deliveristas here and there should be bike parking for them, but we also really need secure bike parking for residents. I would love to own a bike in the city but I have nowhere safe to store it and CitiBike is too expensive, so I just take transit instead. Consider locations along 1st Avenue where there is a lot of metered parking that is usually empty. After many outdoor dining sheds in the parking lane came down, demand for these spots is low and that lane is almost always empty. As a highly biked avenue, we could use hangars there. Additionally, I think some of the side streets in this neighborhood are great places for storage, as they tend to be quieter and low-traffic.

Parks are an excellent spot to build extra garages. They won't take up parking spots and a lot of people will be riding their bikes in the park anyway.
