Observed Pedestrian and Truck Conflict
Observed Pedestrian and Truck Conflict
Bqe Eb Entrance Atlantic Ave - Atlantic Ave - Brooklyn Queens Expressway

Please close these ramps! It is miserable for pedestrians to try to west or east on Atlantic Ave at either the on-ramp or off-ramp. Cars and trucks do not stop, and even when they do, they block the crosswalk and curb cuts. These ramps add no value to efficiency of the BQE or the Atlantic Ave. corridor.

DOT please stand on Metropolitan in front of the school or L station for an hour one morning to see the danger and noise pollution from 18 wheelers. Now imagine doing that every morning dropping your kids off at school, going to the subway or waiting for the bus. It's madness. Please help.

Avenue U - East 38 St - Ryder St

Ave U truck route should be eliminated. narrow sidewalks along this notoriously heavily traveled area makes walking with children scary. Ave U provided access to beautiful Lenape Playground and the Marine Park Nature Preserve with acres of forever wild land. A truck route should not be running along this poorly designed street in this residential area.

Avenue U - Coleman St - Hendrickson St

Avenue U truck route should be eliminated. Ave U between Flatbush and Gerritesen Ave is a residential area and the street is not wide enough to support truck traffic, bus traffic and on street parking especially between Colman Street and E33 st. A dedicated bus lane and dedicated turning lanes would be appropriate remedies to help calm traffic through this congested corridor. The south side of ave U is a beautiful nature preserve and is cut off from the rest of the neighborhood by the intimidating Ave U corridor that cuts through this peaceful area.

Metropolitan Ave from Morgan Ave until the BQE on ramp at Meeker Ave is an absolutely disgusting, heavily dense nightmare. Tons of fumes, truck garbage (I see bottles filled with truckers piss every day along this route) and trucks destroying the health and vitality of our community

Observed Pedestrian and Truck Conflict
Saint Johns Pl - New York Ave - Nostrand Ave - Brooklyn

Saint Johns Place between Rogers and Brooklyn is a small, residential street. Semi trucks, dump trucks and other heavy, enormous trucks use our street illegally because they are prohibited from using Eastern Parkway and they don't want to go down to Atlantic like they are supposed to. Saint Johns Place is constantly being damaged by these trucks being over weight and last year, an enormous semi truck was over height restrictions and took out a beloved tree on Saint Johns Place. These trucks damage our roads, pollute our air and create havoc with the B45 and passenger cars. Saint Johns Place is NOT a designated truck route. It is a narrow, residential street. DOT must take action to keep these enormous trucks from barreling through our community damaging our roads, creating a terrible amount of noise that negatively effects our health as well as terrible air pollution. Cyclists and pedestrians are terrified of their speed and dangerous driving as well. Saint Johns Place is too narrow to be handling east and west traveling traffic, B45, passenger cars, cyclists and enormous illegal truck traffic. There are constant traffic jams and dangerous games of chicken between drivers trying to get by the stuck B45. Regular car crashes involving cyclist, pedestrians and motorists. Please address this dangerous street (especially Saint Johns Place between Rogers and Brooklyn Avenue) and figure out a way to keep these trucks from illegally blazing through our neighborhood.

Columbus Ave - West 100 St - West 97 St

There are many trucks along this section of Columbus between 97 and 100 that turn a 3-lane road with parking and bike lane, into a one-lane road and blocked bike lane. The issue does continue down into Lincoln Square area but it does seem worse in the 90s

4 Ave - 39 St - 40 St

I’ve observed this to me a very dangerous intersection with trucks attempting to make left turns and aggressive cars going around them and many young school children crossing at the cross walks
