Delivery trucks, most often from Baldor, double parked here for an hour at a time making food deliveries to restaurants. There needs to be a commercial truck loading zone midway between Henry and Clinton on both sides.
Drivers ignore this light and endanger pedestrians here regularly.
Trucks at night traveling West on Atlantic speed up the hill from Boerum place to the top at Clinton Street, then loudly illegally air brake all the way down to the BQE. This happens multiple times EVERY night between midnight and 5 AM, with the noise reaching 140 decibels at times.
Pedestrians cannot cross the intersection of Atlantic and Hicks without fearing for their lives. Trucks barrel down Atlantic en route to the BQE, trying to make the light. Pedestrians feel unsafe at all times in this area, significantly reducing access to Brooklyn Bridge Park for minors.
I am terrified of this intersection. Trucks and cars treat Hicks south of Atlantic like an extension of the BQE, using it to avoid the trough and then turning incredibly aggressively onto Atlantic, misusing the lanes, blocking the box, and ignoring the lights when they turn red. I've almost been his twice while following walk signals. Closing Hicks to truck traffic would do a lot to improve the safety of this intersection.
Highly dangerous and always conflicts with pedestrians, strollers and bikes. The left hand turn from Atlantic (coming from Columbia) is awfully poor and highly dangerous.
Trucks and other vehicles heading east and west on Atlantic Avenue crossing Court Street frequently run solid red lights at excessive speeds, endangering pedestrians in the crosswalks.
Trucks blocking one lane daily M-F, 9am-3pm. Especially bad 12-3PM. Traffic, congestion are constant from unloading trucks
There are no safe spaces for cyclists to ride on the road in Borough Park, it's very unsafe! Delivery truck drivers frequently speed and double park. Trucks and large school buses make it very unsafe for all road users. There are many preventable crashes in this area.
This busy one-way street is often used by fast-moving delivery trucks and they frequently stop and double park. This presents danger to all road users.
