Observed Bicyclist and Truck Conflict
Observed Bicyclist and Truck Conflict
Morgan Ave - Ten Eyck St - Maujer St

Trucks pull up and park, throughout the day, every day, blocking the bike lanes. Several cyclists have been killed. The trucks are not respecting traffic laws, which is resulting in deaths. We need actual barricades protecting cyclists, as the truck drivers do not respect these lanes and the local police refuse to enforce the law.

Bordering a residential neighborhood and park, this intersection is highly hazardous for pedestrians and cyclists. We have huge trucks coming from each direction along Morgan and Metropolitan, making it unsafe for pedestrians and cyclists to cross. There are also no designated bike lanes down these two major streets in this area. The incessant truck traffic, noise, and fumes, have lessened the quality of life of this neighborhood's resident. I both own my home and a small business in this neighborhood of Cooper Park.

Kingsland Ave - Driggs Ave - Nassau Ave - Brooklyn

This comment feels a little pointless since Kingsland Ave is not a truck route and yet, is used like one daily. Dozens and dozens of trucks every hour, most speeding, which I know because they don't even slow down for the speed bumps and make a loud noise as they speed over each one. It's so dangerous. I'm so sick of it.

there are almost always trucks parked in the bike lane here, and not enough room for people on bikes to go around them safely

Poor Truck Network Connections
Poor Network Connections
Bergen St - 5 Ave - Flatbush Ave

Trucks use Bergen and Dean all the time for non-local traffic-- they go far past this limited truck designated area into Prospect and Crown Heights and Boerum Hill. I have never seen a truck ticketed but it is very common to see them using these streets. It's a mess because these are also bike routes and it's very unsafe. They also get stuck if there's a double parked car creating traffic flow issues.

Flatbush Ave - 3 Ave - Lafayette Ave

This intersection is a mess-- nearly all the truck traffic on 3rd makes the right turn onto Flatbush. But this is also an important pedestrian intersection. There are many residential buildings and schools nearby. The two lanes of turning traffic means the 2nd lane of traffic doesn't always have a clear view of pedestrians. Also because traffic on 3rd is usually bad, drivers are impatient and angry by the time they reach this corner. They do not yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk. Occasionally there are crossing guards posted here but they tend to stand on the less dangerous southern side of this intersection. And the crossing guards are not there consistently enough. This intersection needs to be designed better. 3rd Ave was not designed to have so much truck traffic. It is overloaded. More truck traffic needs to be directed back onto 4th Ave which is wider.

Trucks block the intersection and the crosswalks here CONSTANTLY! (On 3rd blocking Pacific Street traffic and pedestrian crossings across 3rd). It is very dangerous for pedestrians to have to cross the street in between the trucks because of the low visibility. Additionally traffic on Pacific is often blocked when the Pacific street light is green; drivers on 3rd Ave also frequently run the red light here. This corner is a mess and since there are two schools here it's especially important that safety be improved.

Van Brunt St - Commerce St - Delavan St - Brooklyn

Van Brunt Stret is too narrow for parking bike Route and trucks. It is the main retail corridor of red hook. Trucks should be prohibited except local Deliveries

Its insane that the only truck route to/from Long Island Central NJ & south is to jam all of it right onto the BQE through one of the most congested places on earth -- alternatives should be considered to take pressure off

Bike lanes dump into a chaotic intersection with heavy truck traffic in the most confusing way -- bikes and pedestrians should be better protected by trucks here
