Narrow Roadway
Narrow Roadway
69 St - Juniper Boulevard South - 62 Drive - Queens

69th Street from Metropolitan Ave to Eliot Ave is inappropriate for a truck route. Large tractor trailer vehicles and other large trucks use the road to reach the LIE at 69 St. The roadway is too narrow for these large trucks. The volume of traffic from trucks is overwhelming. Trucks travelling along 69th ST. pass many residential homes. These homes are subjected to excessive noise emanating from the truck as the pass, from their motors and air brakes. The noise is unbearable and causes hardship and is unhealthy because residents cannot use their yards because of the traffic noise due to the narrow width of 69th Street. A noise level study should be considered or the route modified to avoid areas with residential homes.

Regular conflict between trucks and bikes along the Amsterdam and Columbus bike lanes - trucks regularly park in the bike lanes to make deliveries. Need more loading zones!

The stretch of roadway along 69th Street from Metropolitan Ave to Eliot Ave is heavily traveled by cars, vans, trucks, tractor trailers, and bicycles, scooters, and electric bikes. Trucks and cars travelling at posted speeds and above are a danger to pedestrians, bikes, scooters and such. The roadway is too narrow to safely accommodate the volume of motor traffic and bicycles and motor bikes.Several near accidents have occurred along the route which did not result in injuries, but the potential exists for one to occur in the future. Noise from trucks is excessive and make it difficult to ride along side these humongous vehicles. There is a school at 69 Street and Juniper Valley Road and many student ride or walk along 69th Street under noisy and dangerous conditions.

Lafayette doesn't need to be a truck route. It has an un-protected bike lane and is almost all residential. It's also narrow, one way, and deserves to have better pedestrian and bike infrastructure

Grand St - Union Ave - Lorimer St

Grand and Metropolitan are so close to each other that they don't need need to be truck routes. Since Grand St already has bike lanes, we should discourage truck traffic there and have only Metropolitan as a truck route. It also has better access to the BQE in both directions anyway.

Roebling St - South 3 St - South 4 St

With Marcy Av close by, Roebling St should be removed from the truck route network. There's hardly any traffic that necessitates it being a truck route. Remove it so we can add in measures to slow down traffic on this unnecessarily wide street, then we can close the on-ramp to Williamsburg Bridge at S 4 St, which sees a lot of bike traffic to/from the bridge.

Tons of trucks use Tompkins Ave although it's not a truck route. The unprotected bike lane feels much less safe with trucks passing by.

Truck route should not pass a park that is frequented by families

Trucks often speed up this wide street with limited visibility at the intersection

Parkside Ave - St Pauls Pl - East Drive

I constantly see trucks on Parkside Avenue, even though this is not a truck route. A woman was hit and killed by a truck on Parkside Avenue on Jan 2023 but I still trucks constantly going down this street. There's no enforcement of the issue.
