The NYC Truck Route Network is a system of designated roads that helps commercial vehicles navigate the city efficiently. It aims to:
Connect primary freight origins and destinations.
Maximize access to industrial and commercial zones.
Minimize conflicts with residential areas and vulnerable road users.
This network is crucial for supporting the local economy and livability by:
Organizing neighborhood truck activity
Reducing traffic congestion on non-designated routes
Feedback Guidance:
We want to hear from you, help us identify how and where we can improve the movement of trucks on our city streets.
Options for feedback:
Confusing Truck Route Signage: A Unclear or inaccurate posted truck route signage
Missing Truck Route Signage: A lack of adequate signage to help guide trucks to and along designated truck routes.
Poor network connection: Areas with inadequate truck route network connectivity, often leading truck drivers to deviate from designated truck routes.
Weight & Height Restrictions: Overweight and/ or over-dimensional trucks are often observed.
Limited Curb Access: Trucks observed blocking moving, bike, or bus lanes; or have limited access to curbs for loading and unloading purposes.
Narrow Roadway: Limitations by the physical characteristics of the street, such as narrow roadway
Difficult Truck Turn: Limitations by the physical characteristics of the street, such as sharp turns
Maintenance Needed: Substandard road conditions, such as potholes, uneven surfaces, or lack of maintenance.
Limited Truck Parking: Shortage of designated parking spaces for trucks.
Observed Bicyclist and Truck Conflict: Observed locations where multiple incidents of bicycle and truck conflicts occurred
Observed Pedestrian and Truck Conflict: Observed locations where multiple incidents of pedestrian and truck conflicts occurred
Speeding Truck: Locations where trucks are observed speeding along the street or intersection
Health and Environmental Impact: Locations with air quality, general health, and environmental concerns

Halleck St should be re-mapped to support the dramatic increase of truck and vans traffic resulting from the explosive growth and clustering of e-commerce warehouses in the area. Red Hook neighbors have been advocating for this for years. The loss of parkland from re-mapping Halleck St should be compensated by reclaiming adjacent streets from traffic and turning those into new parkland. Trees on Halleck St should be replanted in the newly mapped parkland.
We are right next to the BQE and in a public space and there’s so much noise and it stinks. It’s so discouraging from actually using the few public spaces that the neighborhood has to be in between the highway and truck routes. And the highway being NYCs biggest truck route it’s awful for this community that is literally impacted by it everting
Bay St should be redesign to prioritize safe access to parks and connectivity of Brooklyn's protected bicycle lane network.
I’m currently in the park trying to hang out with a few friends and we’re literally screaming at each other because of how loud the trucks are and the highway is. Mind you, we’re here alone
There are two Public spaces right next to the highway and the Marcy truck route here. Sometimes I have my lunch over here and I’m worried that all this pollution from trucks is getting into my food! But it’s the only public space we have in the neighborhood and is literally next to the truck route
The BQE and big truck route is right in between a public space, where people are supposed to sit and relax. There is so much noise and a lot of fumes.
I come here on my lunch break to try and relax under some shade but I can’t. There’s way too much noise from the trucks and the highway, it’s muggy out with no shade.
