Observed Pedestrian and Truck Conflict
Observed Pedestrian and Truck Conflict
59 St - 3 Ave - Brooklyn

I'm concerned about the cars and trucks making truns at the intersection and every time we pass thru the intersection most of the cars and trucks go fly by and not stopping for the people who are in the middle of crossing the street. And due to the construction of the highway construction above the walk sign is not functioning as intended. Making hard to cross this intersection

My biggest fear is that the driver of the truck will not be able to see the people who are traveling on 60th Street since they are very large as trailers, it is very dangerous, I have seen those trucks back up because they do not have enough space to cross, I really hope that lives are not lost due to this type of situation.

And also for those who have cars and are going to drop off their children at school, why not park their car two blocks before and walk so as not to get the traffic jam in cars as well

They [truck drivers] don't respect the red lights, sometimes they stay in the middle of the road and we parents with the children have to cross the same half of the road for the same reason that they do that, sometimes they get on the curb

Difficult Truck Turn

The trucks turning on 60th from third Avenue or coming down 60th in general are very big. Sometimes they come down too fast and don’t see pedestrian crossing. Our crossing guards are doing their best with their new big red stop signs. However, these vehicles at times fail to yield or stop. It can kill someone, especially our precious children. Sometimes they double park, leaving little room to navigate with oncoming traffic. There are safety issues with our little ones coming off school buses safely or out of our personal cars.

Large trucks en route and small children going to school don't mix. If there is any way to reroute this truck route, please do it. We don't want casualties or statistics to report.

They [the trucks] don't mind endangering pedestrians, they take their time to turn or pass without any problem.
