This intersections is scary and unsafe for families and kids. It's one of the few ways to get to Pier 6 park but it is nerve racking and scary.

I constantly see near misses. here where people, especially children, are crossing the street to get to the ballfields and the ping-pong tables, or on their way to the park nearly get murdered by gigantic speeding Trucks. It is tragedy waiting to happen.

Pearl & York has been greatly improved by the addition of the stop sign, however more needs to be done to improve safety and speeding cars/trucks here. Drivers often blow through this intersection and stop sign. A raised sidewalk, curb bump outs, or other safety improvements for pedestrians are needed here.

Manhattan Bridge Pedestrian Path - Ramp - Jay St

Off ramp from bridge is in direct conflict with cyclists and pedestrian lane. Drivers disobey lights and just plow through this intersection. Add on top of this the entire interchange is a massive air quality and environmental issue, with traffic filling this entire corridor daily.

Massive roads allow for high speeds - need a road lane reduction - especially with plans to redevelop the adjacent park space near the Brooklyn Bridge.

Observed Pedestrian and Truck Conflict
Tillary St - Cadman Plaza West - Cadman Plaza West

Cars and trucks turning right from Tillary are in immediate conflict with many bicycles, pedestrians, and kids on their daily commutes to school and work. Trucks moving through this route have limited visibility and a leading pedestrian signal is desperately needed to protect pedestrians from being run over by large trucks trying to accelerate through this intersection when the light turns green. What's worse is the very next block, the timing of the light is red anyways so they need to wait after zooming through the right turn and pedestrian conflict.

Entire street is often backed up and congested for most of the weekdays, with overflowing traffic daily further polluting our neighborhood. What's worse is the large trucks and traffic have virtually killed all street trees with sideswipes and smog. This road should be narrowed to reduce traffic and install a two way bikelane.
