Bikes Routes should not follow truck routes
The NYC Truck Route Network is a system of designated roads that helps commercial vehicles navigate the city efficiently. It aims to:
Connect primary freight origins and destinations.
Maximize access to industrial and commercial zones.
Minimize conflicts with residential areas and vulnerable road users.
This network is crucial for supporting the local economy and livability by:
Organizing neighborhood truck activity
Reducing traffic congestion on non-designated routes
Feedback Guidance:
We want to hear from you, help us identify how and where we can improve the movement of trucks on our city streets.
Options for feedback:
Confusing Truck Route Signage: A Unclear or inaccurate posted truck route signage
Missing Truck Route Signage: A lack of adequate signage to help guide trucks to and along designated truck routes.
Poor network connection: Areas with inadequate truck route network connectivity, often leading truck drivers to deviate from designated truck routes.
Weight & Height Restrictions: Overweight and/ or over-dimensional trucks are often observed.
Limited Curb Access: Trucks observed blocking moving, bike, or bus lanes; or have limited access to curbs for loading and unloading purposes.
Narrow Roadway: Limitations by the physical characteristics of the street, such as narrow roadway
Difficult Truck Turn: Limitations by the physical characteristics of the street, such as sharp turns
Maintenance Needed: Substandard road conditions, such as potholes, uneven surfaces, or lack of maintenance.
Limited Truck Parking: Shortage of designated parking spaces for trucks.
Observed Bicyclist and Truck Conflict: Observed locations where multiple incidents of bicycle and truck conflicts occurred
Observed Pedestrian and Truck Conflict: Observed locations where multiple incidents of pedestrian and truck conflicts occurred
Speeding Truck: Locations where trucks are observed speeding along the street or intersection
Health and Environmental Impact: Locations with air quality, general health, and environmental concerns
Bikes Routes should not follow truck routes
Trucks constantly pull over here and sit in the bus lane. This is a major stop for local and express buses and it slows down service significantly. This morning I watch a truck sit in this lane disrupting all the bus service to go inside the bodega before getting on the expressway which is also a hazard in the community. The turn onto the expressway is dangerous for anyone not in truck. we all suffer here everyday.
trucks always trying to beat the lights cause conflict with cyclists navigating this intersection
Saint Johns Place is very dangerous for 2 short blocks between Rogers and New York Ave. There should not be trucks on such a skinny two way street that already has two-way busses and two-way bike lanes. The trucks barely fit, bikers are almost squished, the street is torn up and the trees limbs often get hit.

extremely dangerous stretch of the intersection. vehicles do not stop so there is always a conflict between cyclists, pedestrians and trucks. It is frustrating that this part of the neighborhood sits between two truck routes
Saint Johns Place between Rodgers and New York Avenue is a restricted truck street but the signs are missing. Please re-establish Saint Johns as a truck restricted Street.this stretch is very dangerous for 2 short blocks. I have seen trucks turn very dangerously and on occasions have interrupted vehicular traffic, thus endangering pedestrians, as we are walking with our children to and from school. I am afraid of the recklessness of the drivers.
Good morning, my concern about the big trucks is that they accelerate without it being important to them that there's a school there, at drop off and dismissal time
Trucks speeding and blocking traffic., turning in a dangerous way that impacts the pedestrians crossing and walking with children
