Observed Bicyclist and Truck Conflict

Caton Ave - Westminster Rd - Argyle Rd

Nearly died here. Bike hit trash on street and almost wobbled underneath a semi. Now I ride on the sidewalk (parade grounds side). I am a very seasoned cyclist. Cyclist through-traffic is not aware that Caton is a death zone, so they tweak as giant trucks constantly zoom past. Having trucks dragrace from light to light next to a busy park is insanity.

A teenage cyclist was killed here by a truck driver who did not use his turn signal. RIP Mario Valenzuela.

Vernon Boulevard - 46 Rd - 47 Ave

I've seen video on social media of a dangerously aggressive truck driver who was unwilling to share the road despite the presence of sharrows, honking repeatedly, yelling, and forcing a cyclist off the road. Vernon south of 44th Drive is a narrow street frequently blocked by double parking and sheds, that carries a high volume of pedestrian and cyclist traffic. It is not appropriate for use as a truck route.

This is not a truck route, but somehow, surprisingly frequently, trucks up to 53 feet end up stuck here having to reverse an entire block.
