Bus Stuck in Traffic
Bus Stuck in Traffic
Audubon Ave - West 177 St - West 178 St

The m101 bus is very often stuck in traffic around the new bus route. It travels along Audubon, and is stuck behind redirected traffic. Traffic going into the Bronx that has been routed off of 181st street is re-routed onto Audubon Avenue, and then has to turn back onto the route. The traffic lights and intersections have not been redesigned to facilitate this new traffic pattern, and Audubon is really messed up because of it. This isn't like the 14th street bus way, where cars can just find another route- this bus way creates a bottleneck that then hurts buses that travel through Washington Heights. This bottleneck is awful, and needs to be addressed.

My father is an 88-year-old handicapped man, with dementia. I am his caretaker who drives into the city to care for him four out of the 7 day week. during my time with him, I drive him to doctor's appointments, food shopping, Veteran's Administration, etc. By placing a busy bus stop right in front of his building, and eliminating all meter parking on the eastbound side of 181st street, makes it impossible for me to continue to help my dad get around. There are "No Standing Anytime" signage from St. Nicholas all the way to Audubon Avenue, preventing me from even stopping in front of his building to help him get into the vehicle. This is an action of removing already limited parking, placing No Standing Anytime signage, and placing such a busy bus stop right in front of his building is a violation of the American Disability Act that ensures access in and out of his place of residence without obstruction. To make matters worst, passengers waiting for the bus use the three steps leading out of his building to sit and wait for the bus. Hence, making the entry and exit from his building a hazard if there is an emergency. Please consider this complaint to rectify this very serious matter. ~Comcerned Advocate for Lifelong Citizen of Washington Heights

Curbside Parking Issue
Curbside Parking Issue
Audubon Ave - West 181 St - West 182 St

For the person who commented "about not to have the privilege to park" clearly hasn't lived around here as I have for the past 40 years, some of US in this neighborhood are essential workers! that need our cars to go to work, coming home after 10 to 12 hour days, tired, then to look for public parking will be a nightmare. The bus lanes should only be in place from 8 am until 7 pm during work days. Lets think about everyone.

Having a bus line almost 16 hours a day and no public parking will be devastating to the many working people of this neighborhood that need their cars to go to work. How can you look for parking when you have to make the next right?! Just today there is more traffic on the side streets then ever before, this will be worse in the weeks and months to come, lets think NY city planners its not working.

Too many street vendors, NO BUS ROUTE! it will only create traffic on the smaller surrounding streets. what we do need is more police and more traffic officers from 181 and Amsterdam to 181 and fort Washington. This area also needs public parking.

Traffic here is unbelievable especially during rush hours. We need to get busses moving no matter what. Washington Heights and Highbridge are home to three subway lines and improving bus service will make it easier for residents to access these subway lines via bus transfer. Faster busses in the area mean it will be convenient to get to the east east side via subway.

This busway is much needed. No one needs the privilege of parking on 181st. It's way too crowded for a row of parked cars, often double parked cars, and then busses and all the cars trying to avoid Cross Bronx traffic. Enough! Please eliminate all parking spaces, allow a bike lane or at least a shared bike/bus lane and enforce with traffic cameras!
