Area of Opportunity
Conselyea St - Woodpoint Rd - Maspeth Ave

This little triangular island is unpleasant to walk past. The sidewalk is overgrown with weeds, has no shade, and the crosswalks are bad.

Woodpoint Rd - Jackson St - Skillman Ave

Woodpoint between Skillman and Jackson is at angle such that it is hard to see pedestrians. The Woodpoint/Jackson intersection needs a east-west crosswalk and/or daylighting at the corners.

Ainslie St - Leonard St - Manhattan Ave

I notice a lot of large trucks exit the BQE and use Ainslie as a cut through before turning on to Manhattan Ave. These roads are not truck routes! What is the plan to prevent cut through traffic? Are block reversals being examined?

I support making grand street and metropolitan avenues single-direction. They are the only major roads that cross the BQE and are busy commercial corridors. By making them single direction, we can build out fortified bike lanes, provide turning lanes and reduce congestion due to vehicles waiting to make a turn.

Union Ave - Ainslie St - Devoe St

Union avenue between Devoe and Powers has poor visibility at intersections. We need daylighting so cars can safely make left turns and pedestrians can cross. My friend had her car T-boned here by incoming traffic she couldn't see.

Needs an east-west crosswalk across Bushwick to get to Maspeth

Meeker Ave - Union Ave - Skillman Ave

When biking east, I take Meeker to Skillman. It is always a scramble to get ahead of the cars on Meeker so I can safely turn into a quieter street. We should prioritize putting safer bike lanes in low-car streets rather than make them compete with cars in high-traffic avenues.

Brooklyn Queens Expressway - Brooklyn Queens Expwy Et 33 Eb - Bqe Eb En Williamsburg Brdg

Crossing the BQE by bike is a nightmare in this intersection. The shared lane is rarely expected. The reality is that this crossing is a bottleneck because there are no other direct east-west crossings. I end up taking a detour via the bikeway under the BQE to cross over to N6. It adds a 5 minutes to my trip.

Unsafe Crossing
Unsafe Crossing
Metropolitan Ave - Humboldt St - Bushwick Ave

This intersection is dangerous and chaotic. Eastbound cars turning right (south) from metro to bushwick try to make the light and speed through the crosswalk. We could benefit from a moving the crosswalk away from the intersection towards mid-block.

The amount of trucks on this street is unbearable and I can guarantee my sleep and overall well being has suffered as a result. This is a residential area. I’m sure there are reasons for the way things are now, but I’m begging anyone with influence to study how this can be mitigated, especially at night.
