Brooklyn Queens Expressway - Brooklyn Queens Expwy Et 33 Eb - Bqe Eb En Williamsburg Brdg

There should be a crosswalk here and a matching crosswalk across Union St. on the other side of Macri Park. This would allow a safer route to walk between East Williamsburg and Northside Williamsburg on the other side of the highway. The walk along Metropolitan Ave is a complete and total nightmare with ridiculous amount of truck traffic making lots of turns and filthy sidewalks covered in bird shit. An alternative pedestrian route north of metropolitan would be so much safer and more pleasant for pedestrians

Union Ave - Metropolitan Ave - Conselyea St

Lorimer St - Metropolitan Ave - Conselyea St

Signal timing makes it take FAR too long to cross Metropolitan Ave. As a result, people jay walk frequently, which is very dangerous because trucks and cars travel far too fast here. The isgnal should be retimed so that pedestrians are not forced to wait so long to cross. More people will be willing to wait and not jaywalk if the wait isn't so painfully long. This intersection is packed w pedestrians.

Metropolitan Ave - Meeker Ave - Meeker Ave

Just to add to the chorus of comments about how horrific this intersection is for pedestrians and cyclists. I generally hate everything about this mega-intersection under the BQE and am constantly terrified that I'm going to get killed every time I'm here. Especially important because the G is a block away and there are dozens upon dozens of pedestrians crossing all the time. The whole thing needs a rethink and the vehicle traffic urgently needs to be greatly calmed.

Devoe St - Humboldt St - Bushwick Ave

Drivers coming north on Bushwick turn left on Devoe here to avoid Metropolitan Ave - putting reckless drivers and excessive trucks on residential streets. The light here encourages this behavior because it lags Metropolitan. Any changes to Metropolitan need to discourage this behavior as well - and encourage drivers to stay to main arteries.

Metropolitan Ave - Graham Ave - Brooklyn

Large semi truck park at the corner crosswalk at this high traffic intersection blocking the view of drivers and pedestrians. Daylighting the intersections would make better sight lines for drivers and create a wider turning radius so people down have to back up when large trucks and buses are turning

Ainslie St - Manhattan Ave - Brooklyn

Trucks exiting BQE and take Ainslie then turn on to Manhattan. These are not truck routes and cutting thorough this residential neighborhood is unsafe. Enforcement will stop this, DOT must design the streets so that Google Maps doesn’t tell drivers to turn off truck routes. Any one way conversion on Metro/Grand will undoubtedly make this worse.
