There needs to be bike lanes installed in Van Brunt street. It’s dangerous to have cars enter the other lane or potentially hit us. Drivers are also frustrated that we’re taking up the road, but we have no choice. The neighborhood is predominantly bikers and pedestrians due to no subway stations, so the main street of Red Hook needs safe biking infrastructure to ensure the safety of its residents and visitors.
Bike lane needs to be protected. Double parked trucks between Summit/Bowne force cars into the bike lane every weekday morning (should also add loading zone on East side of Imlay) and large flatbed trucks park in the bike lane and on the sidewalk between Bowne and Commerce.
This area of Bay St in front of Amazon loading area is incredibly dangerous for pedestrians (and cyclists). Cars make high speed turns into the facility, endangering pedestrians. There are rows of double parked cars loading Amazon merchandise at all times.
The bus stop for the B61 (heading towards Park Slope) in front of 374 Van Brunt St is constantly blocked by multiple cars. We have to wait out in Street for bus. Those with walkers or wheelchairs cannot get in or off bus safely.
thank you for the designated bike lanes here! it is really nice to have a clear lane all the way up to brooklyn bridge park (and down). thank you!!
There are too many industrial freight/cargo/semi-trucks on Van Brunt. this is a tiny street. these trucks should take an alternative route. Van Brunt goes right along PS15 elementary school - these trucks are creating a ton of pollution immediately next to the school's largest playground, creating bad air quality for the children. they often idle along these streets as well.
To the nycdotprojects.info admin, You always provide great information and insights.
Lots of truck traffic here that gets bad when deliveries and cars double park. People park in the bike lane to pickup pizza or laundry from the middle of the block then trucks can't get through and bikes are forced to ride around either the blocked bike lane or the people driving in the bike lane to get around people double parked on the other side.
Cars especially TLC cars and trucks speed through this intersection trying to get to hicks to cut the bqe traffic and regularly use the bike lane as a left turning lane. The bike lane should have bollards at the very least so cars will pay attention and not turn into bikes and pedestrians.
