This is a horribly dangerous crosswalk section. We see a lot of fast, large trucks and vehicles and the blindspots are aggressive, yet the foot traffic is enough to necessitate a stop light.

This is such a dangerous intersection! I always feel nervous when crossing with my kids (and oftentimes end up walking a couple of extra blocks to cross in a safer spot) but I've seen other pedestrians (including young teenagers without adults) dart across the street with cars coming at an unsafe speed. Please add a stoplight here, it truly seems like it's only a matter of time until an accident happens.

I’ve lived in this area for 20 years. The pedestrian crosswalks over the east side of Hicks St. are simply too dangerous. If you, as a pedestrian, are not familiar with the area you could easily walk out and be hit by a vehicle running a red light. I see these cars run red lights every time, which is daily, I am at a crosswalk on Hicks St. The crossings on Union St. and from the Summit St. walk bridge are notorious for speeders and red light runners. There is zero police enforcement even though the local precinct is a block away. For pedestrians there is virtually no signage alerting drivers to the fact that these are crosswalks that empty immediately into the roadway. The drivers are so intent driving on Hicks St. to Atlantic to beat the traffic on the BQE below they endanger the pedestrians every single day. This issue has been ongoing for decades. Every day the DOT waits to solve this problem with enforcement, signage and crosswalk redesign is another day adults and children are at risk of being maimed or killed.

Hicks St - Union St - President St
This part of southbound Hicks street gets a high volume of speeding cars that continue south on Hicks or take fast turns westbound on to President street. There are speed bumps further north on hicks that successfully prevent speeding. This block of hicks between Union and President should also have a speed bump to reduce speeding and protect pedestrian safety.

It is incredibly dangerous to cross the street here while driving and even more so as a pedestrian. We need a stop sign or a traffic light here to make it more safe for everyone.

Columbia St - President St - Brooklyn
The intersection of Columbia and President Street is incredibly dangerous. With the increase of trucks coming from the Amazon warehouse, and traffic heading for the BQE entrance up the street which often backs up, plus the fact that construction trucks often park outside the very popular deli, it is so dangerous for people trying to cross the street. When crossing with children to go to Mother Cabrini playground, it is feels so dangerous, and when we drive it is impossible to see as we enter the intersection. *Please* put a stop sign or streetlight before someone gets hurt!!
