Great place for a station as it connects to bike lanes on Edgecombe and St Nicholas and the East river path
Close to one train but congested sidewalks mean it would be best on the street
Calm traffic near CUNY and apartments perfect for a roadbed station
Close to transit
A station as close to 161 Street here would make for quick access to the Bronx court houses, Yankee Stadium, the Melrose MetroNorth station, and the Bx6 Select Bus Service. This could be a major connection point for people coming from points east until the CitiBike zone expands further into the Bronx. The pace of this expansion is frustratingly slow and discriminates against the Bronx, which is filled with people of color.
The Hub needs pedestrianization through plazas, bus only lanes, and protected bike lanes to alleviate congestion. This is also a major subway station.
This is a point where the 5 and 6 trains are very close together, but not the shortest walk. A ride of just a few minutes would make transfers very easy!
Near major subway station, commercial center, adaptive reuse project, and community college. Can be placed next to Bronx Post Office. Major destination for Bronxites.
As a subway station near the edge of the CitiBike zone, this area will receive cyclists from further uptown and can link people between the subway lines which are spaced far apart around here. This adds resiliency to our transportation system in case of issues with subways and buses.
This intersection is home to multiple restaurants, bars, and residences that appeal to people who are more likely to bike. These establishments are draws for Bronx residents and tourists from within and outside of New York City. They are not immediately located at train stations, however. People are sometimes—fairly or unfairly—worried about crime in this neighborhood and are afraid to walk along it, especially if they are alone.
