The project team met with the Transportation, Public Safety, Sanitation & Environment Committee and gathered feedback on improvement concepts developed through the study. The concepts involve improved pedestrian access, traffic safety measures, expanded sidewalk areas, green infrastructure, bike lane enhancements, and pedestrian bridge improvements to enhance waterfront access and the pedestrian experience along the FDR Drive corridor from Montgomery Street to 14th Street. The meeting had a hybrid format with presenters and participants in person at the Dale Jones Burch Neighborhood Center, with the option for participants to join virtually. Based on the feedback provided in the meeting, the comment period for the third study survey was extended into March to provide community members with additional opportunities to share input.
The presentation from the meeting is available on the Documents page.
At the third community workshop for this study, the project team shared recommendations for waterfront connection improvements and street enhancements at Montgomery Street, Jackson Street, Delancey Street, Houston Street, and 6th Street along the FDR Drive corridor. The workshop was held in person at the Lower Eastside Girls Club. Following an overview presentation, participants joined breakout discussions to share what they liked and disliked about the recommended improvement concepts. Feedback from the workshop will be integrated into the study’s final report.
