This corner would be perfect as it already have access to a dedicated bike lane and a pedestrianized island off the roadway and sidewalk so no parking or pedestrian walkway will be lost.

The 40th St stop on the 7 train is a perfect location for a Citibike dock. There is ample room under the elevated tracks, the bikes would have protection from rain and therefore need less maintenance, and the stop is just two blocks from the 39th St connection to Astoria. Riders could reach Astoria in 5 minutes, Brooklyn in 10 minutes via the Greenpoint Ave Bridge, and Manhattan in 20 minutes via the protected lanes on Skillman and the Ed Koch Bridge.

2 parking spots could accommodate 12-15 bikes. So while it would mean losing two spots, it would actually serve 6-7x's more residents.
