For decades the City, State, Federal governments, our elected officials, and the community's lack of quality of living have all contributed to the decay of the Rockaways. With that being said, people need to grow up and act like human beings! Take care of where you live, because no one is going to give a rat's tail if you don't do it first! Trust me, no surfer or use of a beach is going to bring total revitalization to this Peninsula. Having viable transportation to and fro is key. The Ferry service should be afforded to everyone, using all sensible spaces along the waterfront to give residents a choice. The Q52, Q53 should be available to the East and West End. The "Underway" should not be for cars, why, because I've experienced out of town drivers who've wanted to end my life, at the wheel of their car while walking the "Underway"! Not once but twice, deliberate acts by motorists, not only not caring about the pedestrian's safety, however blatantly wanting to do me harm! You have to be kidding me with the studies, you people know that for decades people have been losing life and limb on account of the police not checking quality of life issues where drivers are concern! However they'll feel free to pull over someone, stranger, suspicion of buying drugs or speeding! Please give me a break. Start by repairing roadways, and extending the Shore Front Parkway to free up and ease traffic for all of where motorists can actually drive upon. Not only does your agency, HPD, Parks, DOT, Transit, you all know and have history of this area. First of all start taking a living survey yourselves, by actually staying and seeing for yourselves first hand. Come out the Ivory tower of your mind, stop beating us in the head about impact studies! Stop using our communities, Rockaway residents as lab rats for your studies that you already know the outcome of... My solution, build better roadways on both sides of the "Underway"! Take the plans of the Urban planning done by colleges with Rockaway Waterfront Alliance, now called RISE and implement those ideas. Began to follow the leading of the community with the plans Jean DuPont and participants have voiced thus far. Began to make a clear and concise use of the "Underway" from one end to the other end, East to West, for pedestrians, bikers, roller blades users, and roller skaters. Need I go on, you know the need, Obama's directed you to deal with infrastructure nationwide, and frankly long as I have breath, I will see the bright future, of having great shopping,(food, essentials, and clothing) housing, and cultural amenities. As long as sustainability, resiliency, and the quality of life issues rewards us all. Might as well get started...NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop pushing, paper and statistics and get busy
