Eastern Rockaway Access

A transportation study to improve access to jobs, services, retail, and the rest of the city.

Happy to tell you! They were miovision cameras designed to count cars and catelog their turning movements as they drove through an intersection --- it was all a part of our transportation data collection for the Access to Opportunity transportation study in the Eastern Rockaways. We're also measuring street widths, accounting for street markings and lane configurations, and surveying pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure as part of these data collection efforts. We are now preparing an existing conditions report-back to the community scheduled for late June where residents can learn about the data we collected and suggest street improvements that they’d like to see in the focus areas they identified back in December. Stay tuned for more details and specific outreach dates as we firm them up with our community partners.
