Truck parking along this road blocks sightlines
Wooden boards on sidewalk covering hole below I believe. Visible on this street view image. Has been like this for 1yr approx.
Starting at the end of the #4 IRT on Jerome Avenue, go south to Gunhill Road, take that road to Dickenson Avenue, make a left on that avenue, go right on Sedgwick Avenue, make a right on that avenue to Van Cortlandt Park South, on that street to the entrance of the Putnam Greenway at Putnam Ave West -- this is a protected and express route that travels north or south. This can be used as an alternate route on the local streets by using Bailey Avenue.
Dickenson Avenue can be a soft bike path that can be an access point into Van Cortlandt Park Greenway. This land belongs to the DEP but they agree to create a path and the local Assembly Member has funding.
Starting at the point on West Mosholu Parkway North to Sedgwick Avenue, make a right on Dickenson Avenue (north - a future greenway path) to enter Van Cortlandt Park trail to the Putnam Greenway.
Starting at the end of the #4 IRT on Jerome Avenue, go south to Gunhil Road, take that road to Dickenson Avenue, make a left on that avenue, go right on Sedgwick Avenue, make a right on that avenue to Van Cortlandt Park South, on that street to the entrance of the Putnam Greenway at Putnam Ave West. A 2 way bike lane would be useful on this stretch of 170th st to join University Ave to Ogden Ave, where there becomes a shared bike lane.
It is essential that the greenway is connected to and through Hunts Point and Soundview! The current path over the Eastern Boulevard Bridge along the Bruckner Expressway is dangerous and unreasonable for pedestrians to cross despite being the only means of accessing these two neighborhoods for pedestrians. A pedestrian bridge from Hunts Point to Soundview Park would help improve connectivity, accessibility and safety for children, seniors, and those with disabilities especially.
It is essential that the greenway is connected to and through Hunts Point and Soundview! There is an opportunity to create a comprehensive greenway network through the entirety of the South Bronx and to enable safe pedestrian transportation from Hunts Point to Soundview as opposed to the dangerous and unreasonable path over the Easter Boulevard Bridge along the Bruckner Expressway.
Add bike/ped path on the side of the oak point link. Create path down exterior street which runs thru mta property
