If we're going to call this a greenway, we need more street trees along it.
Please use the map below to provide any feedback, concerns, or suggestions you have regarding the Queens Waterfront Greenway. Please be as specific as possible.
This corridor will close gaps in cycling routes from Long Island City to Astoria to East Elmhurst to Fort Totten. Running parallel to the Long Island Sound, this route will improve transportation options throughout New York City's most diverse borough and enhance park access for Queens neighborhoods with limited green space. Connecting these neighborhoods with an active transportation network will particularly benefit Queens residents living within much of the planning area who are underserved by public transit access.

RFK Bridge requires carrying a bike up the stairs. Would only bike on this bridge if a ramp were built. People choose to go into Manhattan instead. Entrance to bridge difficult to access. Would be a compelling bike connection if there were improvements.
To access Astoria Park from points south, generally take Crescent Street. Crescent is flatter, western route is more hilly. May take a west route if it were more attractive.
Add a curb bump out at Costco for cyclists to rest their foot.
Vernon Blvd segment between Socrates and Main Avenue generally works well except for Costco entrance/exit.
Scary for pedestrians. Traffic from bridge ramp. (@silvercupstudios)
Need more consistent Jersey barriers without hindering business activity.
Consideration for designated truck route.
Trucks knock over the barriers.
Make continuous bike lane. People are cycling on the sidewalks.
