Extremely dangerous biking here. NYC DOT trucks blast in and out of the driveways without looking. It's very scary to bike past here.
Please use the map below to provide any feedback, concerns, or suggestions you have regarding the Queens Waterfront Greenway. Please be as specific as possible.
This corridor will close gaps in cycling routes from Long Island City to Astoria to East Elmhurst to Fort Totten. Running parallel to the Long Island Sound, this route will improve transportation options throughout New York City's most diverse borough and enhance park access for Queens neighborhoods with limited green space. Connecting these neighborhoods with an active transportation network will particularly benefit Queens residents living within much of the planning area who are underserved by public transit access.

Needs >protected< 2-way bike lanes on one side. However, it is important to note this area has very heavy traffic at times, particularly after 3PM due to LGA and highways in proximity. Consider measures to divert traffic to Astoria Blvd instead. Also need to take traffic circle in consideration as well as the entrances to the Flushing Bay Promenade at 27th ave and 31st drive.
Lots of loading in the bike lane here. Need protection or raise the whole bike lane to sidewalk level
If you fucking listen to the shitty council member representing this district you will have betrayed the public. Greenway the whole shore.
Add a two-way protected bike lane against park border on 114 St to provide safe access into the park at 34 Ave, Roosevelt Ave, and to connect down to 111 St two-way protected bike lane.
Need a CURB CUT and TRAFFIC CONTROL at this exact location between Citi Field and Accessible Ramp up to the Boardwalk. Pushing a stroller at this location is so unsafe, but not much of a choice to safely and directly get to the ramp connecting to boardwalk into Flushing Meadows Park.
This gap should be closed
This area has public schools planned, high school nearby, pretty busy oval nearby, and is on the path to get to the oval from either 7 train or the LIRR train. Yet, the infrastructure surrounding it gets all the idling train noise pretty much all day. This could be modernized in that folks could use either the subway or LIRR to come to the waterfront. More trees, lights and dedicated bike lanes would make the area more attractive being the center of it all.
The escooter program is so new it is not listed as a category for comments. However, it has already proven to be both quite successful and quite contentious. Please ensure that this program will remain available to folks in these communities so that they can enjoy our safe greenways.
The Cross Island/Joe Michaels Mile must have a green tree border separation with the traffic on the Cross Island. As it is, it's not a pleasant ride.
