Here is a good spot
This would be a great location, due to the lack of reliable public transportation nearby. There is a large apartment building on the corner of 38th Street, along with many surrounding homes, full of commuters who often walk to the Ditmars/ 31st Street Station. There is also a NYC park, shopping plaza, and brewery nearby as well.
Great location with shopping center and residential buildings in the area
This is the main polling/voting place for many Astorians. Make it easy for people to get to vote by all means of transportation! Also, would allow for kids and families to bike to school. Sidewalk it double-wide and adjacent to school yard.
Great location for citibike
This is an excellent location near local attractions such as Singlecut Brewery, Steinway Piano Company and local retail stores such as a dollar tree, and supermarket. It is also the location of a park (woodtree playground) and one block from a school (IS 141). This is also the location of a preexisting bike lane and a large population center that lacks adequate public transportation to the local train stop.
Main retail corridor for Astorians: Martha's Bakery (which is anti-bike), The Brass Owl (one of Astoria's few boutique shops), Queen's room (amazing Salmon & coffee), Oli.Vine (one of my favorite meals ever!), Perfect Nail & Spa (best mani/pedi in Astoria) and Trade Fair Grocery store. I would visit these retail locations more frequently if I could access them via bike.
By St. John's Academy, would serve the school and surrounding community well.
There needs to be a Citibike station on the Ditmars side of 31st, it's unsafe for cyclist to cycle under 31st (low visibility, above ground subway beams, etc.) to access the existing Citibike dock near the Post office for access to the Ditmars N/W subway station. Additionally, this is a main shopping corridor with Starbucks, CVS, TJ Maxx, and likely a new Target coming.
by residential(?) building, would serve it well
