Excellent Location By The Gardens
Excellent location!!
Junction of two existing bike lanes: 20th Ave & 35th St. and 36 St. have existing cycling infrastructure; put stations in close proximity to bike lanes.
There should be Citibike stations near existing cycling infrastructure, e.g. 35 St. and 36th St. currently have bike lanes however this area of Astoria has no Citibike access currently. 20th Ave. is safer for cyclist than Ditmars. Or put it one block over on 21st Ave & 37th St. so children and staff can utilize it to get to school at PS 141.
Huge new Condo building is going in nearby (The Rowan 21-21 31st St.), additionally, this stretch along 31st St. has many community resources: Queens Library, Verdi Fresh Bodega, 99 cent store, Acupuncture, etc. 20th Ave. is less traffic than Ditmars to bike down and safer for cyclist.
This shopping complex (LaGuardia Shopping Center) has many essential retail business for the community (drug store, matrix gym, laundromat, pizza place, large grocery store (Berry Fresh), Dunkin Donuts, a hair salon, etc.) that is currently hard to access without a car. Also nearby is the large Pistilli Grand Manor condo building.
As close to LGA as possible. Some of us really do bike to the airport!! Also, for those of us who do not own cars, which is many in Astoria, LGA is where one picks up rental cars and it would be nice to be able to BIKE to pick up and return the rental car as currently it's an extremely long (over 3.1 mile) walk to do so. Insane that millions were invested in LGA updates and cyclist were left out, as well as necessary transportation for airport staff.
This is a double-wide sidewalk, with a Laundromat at the corner. Additionally, once the #bike2qbb bike lane project is complete 24th Street will have a bike lane in addition to Crescent as these are one-way streets. This is also a very far walk for those living in this area of Astoria to the Ditmars subway station on 31st.
I want place a pin at 38th Street & 23rd Ave; e.g. near 22-77 38th street which is a large industrial bldg. that hosts many services for the community (Iron Lion gym, massage therapists, yoga studio, etc.) There are no Citibikes near this bldg.
