This is a very wide intersection with long crossing distances. Medians need to be extended to narrow the intersection to slow turning cars and curb extensions are needed on the far side to slow down vehicles speeding straight across on to the local road.
This intersection with Junction Blvd is very dangerous because Junction splits from QB at a 45 degree angle. This encourages drivers to make very quick turns on to JB often failing to yield to pedestrians and speeding. The intersection needs to be "squared" A proposal to do this was part of this Districts 2014 Participatory Budgeting Ballot and I believe the idea has been shared with DOT.
Lots of slip lanes & intersections. Really dangerous right now for bikes; but bikes are already here. Need a protected bike lane and traffic calming.
Need public, on-street bike parking for the retail shoping. There are privately owned bike parking in the parking garage on the left, but they are not visible, poorly supervised and theft of bikes & parts is rampant. Also, parking garage closes these entrances at night time, making it hard to access.
Cars come flying off the main road into the slip lane. Need to slow down; maybe a stop sign?
Lots of retail but no bike parking. Even sign posts are rare for tieing up bikes. I avoid shopping here because of this, even though its in my neighborhood.
Need bike lane to extend to existing bike lane network at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park and points east.
Tremendous qty of households without a car here. We want safe bicycle access.
Must extend the bike lane here. Coming from existing bike lane, roadway is very wide and pavement markings are non-existant. Cars are speeding here.
Chinnese food delivery bikers are always going the wrong way and riding on the sidewalk. Very dangerous.
