Long Distance to Cross
Long Distance to Cross
Queens Boulevard - 72 Rd - 72 Drive

I feel a bit uncomfortable having my kids cross here on their bikes westbound. Is there room for a triangle island to break up the street space and give pedestrians/bikers a place to stop if they need to?

Add a sign at Kew Forest Ln to direct motorists onto Union Tpke West, or add additional barriers at Austin St to prevent illegal turns.

Queens Boulevard - Connector - 77 Ave

The sign for Union Tpke West on the main road is huge, and this sign is way smaller. Directional signs to Union Tpke should be a lot bigger so motorists use the proper route to Union Tpke W/B.

I think since the service road begins not too far from here, this could be a safe bet to close the 112th St exit.

Ascan Ave - Queens Boulevard - 72 Drive

Perfect location for DOT to do a similar treatment as done in 63rd Dr in Rego Park. Bulb out the medians to half-way Ascan Av and make the crosswalks larger; give pedestrians a signalized head-start. This is a location where many strollers, children and elderly cross.

Queens Boulevard - 71 Ave - 71 Rd

The light to make the right onto 108th St changes too quickly, and the turn bay is too short, leading to congestion and some running the signal. DOT should consider a longer green signal or maybe a flashing yellow to keep traffic moving. Already exists at Thompson & Van Dam in Long Is. City.

Motorists are not allowed to make a left onto Queens Bl from this location. But why? This location can help alleviate congestion at 71/Continental by giving motorists another option to turn on Queens Bl instead of circling around to Continental or Ascan Avs.

The end of Phase IV should be implemented in such a way for a provision to a future path/walkway along the center mall of Queens Blvd, which extends all the way to Hillside Av.

A left turn from the service road is for buses only. Better lane markings could work, or maybe the MTA should install a camera to catch drivers making this illegal turn.

People are not suppose to cross here! In spite of no crosswalk, fences and multiple signs, more should be done to prevent people from crossing here. A lot of traffic makes a left from 78 Av to Queens Bl from the Grand Central, which is a dangerous and poor place to cross.
