Greenways

Greenways provide safe and accessible corridors for transportation and active recreation through parks and on streets. NYC DOT is responsible for the planning, design and implementation of greenways on city streets.

As part of the NYC Department of Transportation Urban Art program, the city has partnered with New York Cares to commission professional artists to create temporary designs on city-owned infrastructure. Here is what artists have created for the Jersey Barriers along the Greenway route on Flushing Avenue. Keep an eye out for more urban art around Brooklyn and in other Boroughs.
