Greenway Groundwork: Jersey Barriers

News Image

Jersey Barriers were first invented to prevent cars from veering into oncoming traffic on the New Jersey Freeways. Due to their portability and design, they are now used for a variety of uses. On the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway, they are used to create dedicated, two-way bike lanes that protect bikers from automobile traffic. Take this section of the Greenway along Flushing Avenue between Washington Avenue and Willamsburg Street West and you will notice the difference in the level of safety.
