Greenways

Greenways provide safe and accessible corridors for transportation and active recreation through parks and on streets. NYC DOT is responsible for the planning, design and implementation of greenways on city streets.

The unpaved segment of the Jamaica Bay Greenway along Plumb Beach in Sheepshead Bay has been repaved! The 450-foot segment of pavement was washed away during Superstorm Sandy in 2012, creating a short gap in the Greenway . Repairs began in October 2014 and were completed in December 2014. Cyclists can now enjoy a continuous ride along the Greenway to and from Plumb Beach.
