CHIC - FIL - A!!! Too many people double parking their cars and vehicles to grab their orders as well as delivery bike drivers. Horns are constantly being honked as drivers cannot safely drive in their proper lane since they have to go around double parked vehicles.

It is a narrow one way street, single lane, with residential buildings and business. Traffic is constantly blocked by move in / move outs, residents loading, deliveries, etc. a load/unload spot in William between Maiden and Platt would be ideal for the flow of traffic of neighborhood

Double parked cars block you in over night and even throughout the day. There is ALWAYS , every time of the day double parked cars left with no regard blocking people who ARE Legally parked. Traffic cops patrol every other surrounding neighborhood expect Creston Avenue.

I am writing on behalf of DaCorta Hardware, located at 91-07 Astoria Blvd, East Elmhurst, NY 11369, to formally request the installation of a “Truck Loading Only” parking regulation sign in front of our business. We are open from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and we receive regular deliveries from freight carriers and box trucks. Currently, there is no dedicated loading zone in front of our location, and trucks are often forced to double-park on Astoria Boulevard, creating traffic congestion and safety hazards for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists. A designated “Truck Loading Only” zone would ensure safe and efficient delivery operations while reducing the risk of traffic disruptions in the area. We respectfully request that NYC DOT conduct a site evaluation to determine the feasibility of this signage. On multiple occasions—regardless of the time of day—the bike lane in this area is consistently obstructed by individuals parking their bicycles illegally. This forces cyclists, including myself, to ride into the main road against the flow of traffic, which poses a significant safety hazard due to speeding vehicles. On July 29, 2025, I attempted to document the issue by photographing the obstructed bike lane. During this time, an individual approached me and stated I was not allowed to record. Shortly afterward, a staff member of the business—possibly the owner—came outside and began filming me with his phone. This interaction was both intimidating and unprofessional. It appears that the business not only tolerates but may even encourage this ongoing obstruction of the bike lane. There seems to be a complete lack of accountability regarding public safety and proper use of the designated bike lane in front of the establishment.

Frequent loading/unloading in the travel lane related to daycare pickup/dropoffs, nyc parks workers for the playground, and all the typical ecomm deliveries. This part of 17th street has no houses/driveways on the north side and would be great as a neighborhood loading zone.
