There is a parking lot. But many people rather double park and block the bike lane. I experience this problem everyday of the week.
FedEx vehicle parked on corner blocking crosswalks in two directions, causing reduced visibility of pedestrian to drivers in a high-traffic area.
The left side of the street is an active business and needs a commercial parking/active loading zone.
New building is being built here. There was a loading zone that was removed without community notification. Now UPS/FedEx/Amazon and other service vehicles block the bike lane and car travel lane leading to backups, blocked emergency response, honking. Good to bring in a new loading zone before a large building goes here to help with the heavy number of deliveries to existing buildings on this block.
There is chronic illegal parking issue in the bike lane located at 862 4th Avenue by the business BK Wash & Repair. Vehicles regularly parked and idle in the bike lane to be washed by the business, forcing cyclists into moving traffic and creating an ongoing safety hazard for residents and commuters. What makes this especially frustrating is that this location is only about 400 feet from the NYPD 72nd Precinct, yet the problem persists daily with no enforcement. This has been going on for at least the past 2 years during which time my commute has me regularly using this route. I have also submitted 311 complaints regarding this issue, but the reports consistently come back stating that “no criminal violation existed,” despite the ongoing and visible obstruction of the bike lane. This response has made it difficult to understand how residents are supposed to address a problem that is both persistent and dangerous. The repeated obstruction of the bike lane undermines street safety efforts and puts cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers at unnecessary risk. Thank you for your attention to this issue and for your service to the community. I would appreciate any updates on potential actions that can be taken.
There is a dispensary, hardware store and bakery making deliveries and people picking up packages and trucks delivering to fruit and vegetable store near West 6th that can use a truck and passenger loading zone.
