Astoria Blvd is not a good option unless the road will be narrowed.
Please use the map below to provide any feedback, concerns, or suggestions you have regarding the Queens Waterfront Greenway. Please be as specific as possible.
This corridor will close gaps in cycling routes from Long Island City to Astoria to East Elmhurst to Fort Totten. Running parallel to the Long Island Sound, this route will improve transportation options throughout New York City's most diverse borough and enhance park access for Queens neighborhoods with limited green space. Connecting these neighborhoods with an active transportation network will particularly benefit Queens residents living within much of the planning area who are underserved by public transit access.
Astoria Blvd is not a good option unless the road will be narrowed.
Making the crossing from 31st Ave for bikes would be helpful to fill this narrow gap to reach Malcolm X Promenade.
To get to Malcolm X - 31st Ave is the route to get there, not any of these options - but prioritizing phase 2 where there's a gap reaching Malcolm X Promenade would be the most logical.
Ditmars Blvd seems the most logical, natural barriers, nearest the water and by the airport.
We need both of these options (4.1 and 4.2)
20th Ave is already fine, for this section go for 4.2
20th Ave is not high enough volume to need this protection whereas the neighborhood does
Costco parking lot has lots of cars - if greenway will wrap around the back, will have to address the cars there - move their parking lot.
Physical separation for bikes and vehicles near the Costco/Socrates is needed - going over a curb there is confusing.
Where 3.1 and 3.2 meet - near the Costco and Socrates, there is room for improvement, unwelcoming, lots of cars.
