10.1 - is a nice, quiet, residential route
Please use the map below to provide any feedback, concerns, or suggestions you have regarding the Queens Waterfront Greenway. Please be as specific as possible.
This corridor will close gaps in cycling routes from Long Island City to Astoria to East Elmhurst to Fort Totten. Running parallel to the Long Island Sound, this route will improve transportation options throughout New York City's most diverse borough and enhance park access for Queens neighborhoods with limited green space. Connecting these neighborhoods with an active transportation network will particularly benefit Queens residents living within much of the planning area who are underserved by public transit access.
10.1 - is a nice, quiet, residential route
10.2 - route along Expway needs more infrastructure improvements
Bell Blvd crosses train tracks
10.3 - maintain/improve bike route for safety
3.3 can be a nice option, but continue north for Astoria Park connection.
How do you connect to Astoria Park? 8th St > turn right (Made multiple 311 complaints since the road is pretty bad) and then go on 12th St to Astoria Park.
3.2 4th to 12th St is entirely uphill, so not a favorite option. Even going up on 8th St is slightly uphill.
How would NYCHA Astoria housing residents feel if people are biking near their buildings? Should check with them.
Northern Blvd is very safe to ride the bike. There are no street-enhanced flashing lights for ped/bikes along Queens Plaza when we turn on Vernon. Pavement smoothing would also be helpful.
Waterfront route used for recreational/during weekends. Having a 2-way safe and protected bike lane on Vernon would be nice, as it's more direct and used for commute.
