This is accessible to people leaving the neighborhood to access the BQE or Battery tunnel. One side of the street has no houses.

I live nearby this location. What we need are EV charging stations on parking spots. Imagine driving across town with your last but of gas in order to fill up only to find someone (EV or not) has parked in front of the gas pump. We need proper stations such as expanding stations at IKEA parking lot or Amazon parking in Red Hook. These street spots do not serve the volume of EV users. The demand for regular parking only adds to the complexity and challenge of green options like EV. Partner with old lots, old gas stations, utilize some of the marine parking… make charging STATIONS not random street spots.

I support a charger at this site. The stretch of Nelson St alongside Admiral Park is a smart placement: the park frontage means fewer residential doors competing for those exact spots, so converting curb space to charging here costs the block less than it would elsewhere. It also sits at the seam between Carroll Gardens, the Columbia Waterfront, and Red Hook, so one installation serves households from all three areas, none of which currently have a single working public charger. Please build this one.
