Q52/ Q53 Select Bus Service (SBS) starts on November 12th! As part of the Q52/Q53 SBS project, DOT will reconstruct Woodhaven Boulevard from Union Turnpike to 81st Rd and implement bus and safety improvements.

On September 7th, 2017, the New York City Council approved a rezoning of Downtown Far Rockaway in order to activate long-vacant sites, increase access to housing and retail opportunities in the neighborhood, and help the area realize its potential as the commercial hub of the peninsula.

A free Downtown Far Rockaway Shuttle pilot service launched on October 23, 2017, to connect Downtown Far Rockaway and Wavecrest Gardens to the B108 Rockaway Ferry terminal.

The Rockaways will be the first to receive ferry service this summer as part of Mayor DeBlasio's Citwide Ferry Program (now called NYC Ferry).

We are happy to share updates about Citywide Ferry Service from EDC: A ferry boat model will be displayed at the Queens Library Peninsula Branch from Tuesday, Jan 3, through Sunday, Jan 15.

Many thanks to the staff of the Queens Libary for Teens for hosting us Monday, December 19th, for a special visioning workshop with local Far Rockaway teens! We received really helpful feedback about long-term changes young residents would like to see in their neighborhood.
